Site Description
407 Lincoln Street SE
Helion Lodge No. 1
Helion Lodge No. 1

The word Helion comes from the Greek root helios, meaning light. The number 1 indicates this is the oldest Masonic Lodge in the State of Alabama.
Many prominent residents of early Huntsville were members of this lodge.
The first building on this property, built in 1824, was replaced in 1917. The left side of the building was destroyed in a storm and never rebuilt.
