Site Description
Alabama Constitution Village

Did you know that there are more antebellum homes here in Huntsville than any other city in the state, except Mobile. And although this tour today is on a specific route, don't forget that there are many other fine homes and buildings to see downtown on the many side streets.
Huntsville was named for the early pioneer John Hunt who settled here around the Big Spring sometime in the early 1800s.
For a short time the town was called Twickenham and the historic district still retains that name. But more about that later.
Much of today's tour will be on the streets of the early historic district. As you will see the houses are very fine and the people who lived within them have stories to share with the very curious, I hope, visitor.
